A Prayer for Mental Anguish

Mother who bore our Lord,

Mother who shared His anguish during His Passion,

Mother whose heart was pierced by a sword as He suffered,

Mother who was given to us: "Behold your Mother!"

Mother who feels our anguish also,

Intercede for us, Dear Mother, with your Son our Lord as you did in Cana,

Hold us, Dear Mother, when the anguish is great,

Comfort us, Dear Mother, when our emotions and thoughts seem too much,

Calm us, Dear Mother, when we are confused,

Pray for us, Dear Mother, as we despair contemplating the tree as did Judas,

Calm us, Dear Mother, as we cannot contain our thoughts and deeds,

Inspire us, Dear Mother, with your gentleness and patience,

Teach us, Dear Mother, that we can do great things, although we are small,

Love us, Dear Mother, that we know we are loved,

Show us, Dear Mother, the love of your Son, the Father, and the Holy Spirit,

Be with us, Dear Mother, in the stillness,

Show us, Dear Mother, your Spouse in our hearts,

Lead us, Dear Mother, to His stirrings in our souls,

Pray for us, Dear Mother, in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, in the will of the Father.  Amen.
